"I first discovered the power of Emilio's
music as his band blew the doors off the Boulder Theater to an empty
house one night. I couldn't believe the music that poured out of
this guy, even though no one was listening. They are now! Emilio's
music has packed the clubs of Denver and beyond for years. I am
proud that his first recorded music was heard on one of my KBCO
Studio C discs a few years back. Share this music with a friend,
and don't miss Emilio when he come to your town."

for the gifts of music and the universal love that surrounds us
all.

This is a nice CD from a trio out of Colorado...
...that features guitarist E. Roberto Dominguez.
Some nice funky workouts with guitar work that calls to mind Hendrix,
Santana, and Stevie Ray Vaughn dominate the music. The trio is rounded
out by Jeff Andrews on bass, and Ordy (tio) Garrison on drums. Each
is featured prominently.
Things kick off nicely with "I'm In Love
With You", a tune featuring vocals reminiscent of Elvin Bishop
and a conga-driven Santana-esque solo that really soars. Some excellent
wah-wah work takes the song out.
There are a couple of tribute tunes on the CD
that work really well. Dominguez. wrote both of them, including
one called simply "Jaco P.". Dedicated to the late bass
legend Jaco Pastorious, it sounds more influenced by James Brown
than Jaco, but it sizzles nonetheless. It's funky with some nice
soloing by Dominguez. The other tribute is titled "Tommy Bolin
Tribute". Bolin is the former James Gang guitarist who also
did some solo work in the Seventies, before dying from a drug overdose.
This cut is as funky as it gets with some great solo guitar work.
Well worth the price of admission.
My favorite is the title cut, "Beyond And
Back". Some really nice bass soloing leads off a nice drifting,
spacey feeling intro that quickly leads into a middle funky bridge.
Monster playing from all involved make this a great feeling song.
The lyrics might get a little too mystic for some listeners. I did
have that problem on a lot of the CD. But, the great playing more
than makes up for any problem I had in that area. Instrumentally
the group really cooks. I'm not sure how much they play around Colorado
or any other parts of the United States, but I have a feeling they'd
be well worth the price of admission no matter where they were playing.
